I was previously working on getting anaconda updated, but converting the scripts that build images to using Conary on an installed root was taking too much time, because I didn't have a good understanding of the processes for the scripts.
Rune wrote an initial document, which I improved, on how to do an installation from a live image (e.g. system rescue cd) and a tarball. Fedora's normal install is to start from a live DVD and put the contents onto the hard drive. I realized that we could change our approach to using anaconda to use the anaconda porting work I've already done, and use flimage to build a live image that runs off of USB mass storage (typically, a USB key) and then runs anaconda in that context, rather like the Fedora default install. It could install a tarball (we'll be using flimage to create tarball images for future versions), but I think that it would not take so much work for me to use what I've done for flimage to also create a "install system model with conary" back end to anaconda. So, if anyone wants to work on those scripts to build DVD images, they are welcome to take over the work from me. But I'm not intending to invest further effort in that. _______________________________________________ Foresight-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.foresightlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/foresight-devel
