And when they go to compile it from source and discover that it needs a
quick manual patching, this is no problem. But when they go to cook it and
discover this, they're going to give up and go manually compile it.

Much as it's idealistic that everyone wants to package, I think you'll find
most people just want to get the job done, and if compiling and not cooking
is the easiest way, that's what they're going to do.

Not everyone has the time or motivation to jump in and contribute. I used
to, then I just didn't have the time anymore.
