Isn't it the same for Pidgin?

Note that this is version 2.27.91, things might change a little in a
few days with the release of GNOME 2.28.

I tried it a few months ago and had some problems:
* I didn't get any message that people sent me over Google talk.
* I was in some IRC chat rooms but couldn't get a window for those.
I'll give another go to check if I still have issues.
