Depending on the outcome of the GNOME module inclusion talks for Tracker (I
know only the store has been proposed) I would like to see us switch to
Tracker, not presenting a indexer based search is a regression as compared
to the last few releases. While I love Beagle, it isn't well supported and
upstream is practically dead, however as GNOME seems to be going in this
direction it would seem that not shipping something like this would be a
step back that we would have to reverse. Thus I would much rather see a plan
to ship a modern Tracker release in preparation for GNOME 3 and beyond.

Yes indexers suck up a lot of resources, but suggesting that they be removed
for this reason in my mind shows a lack of vision as they do also give us
some powerful capabilities which appear to be entirely forgotten. The time
for integration of these capabilities is upon us and backing down now would
be a grave mistake. Let Foresight be a catalyst for this change, let it be
the platform developers come to for this integration work and let our users
be the first to catch a glimpse of what this technology can do for us.

This will probably be a good time to also propose that we do this right,
talk to upstream for things like Zeitgeist, Tracker and Docky - ask them to
help us present something useful, it doesn't have to be big for the 2.3
release but let there be something so users will get a taste for where we
are going and let them know we were first to give it to them.

As for gnome-do, while I do not use it personally I know quite a number of
people who would be sad to see it go. It's a powerful productivity tool, if
the problem is that it autostarts I think I have a patch for it, if there
are further problems we can take them to upstream, having dealt with them
before I can say that they work quickly and aren't the slightest bit
offended by being told they have problems that need fixing. I think gnome-do
is a powerful addition to the desktop, I believe it would be a mistake to
remove it.
