Hi, Maybe you have been annoyed by the huge size of the foresight iso images. So do I. So here [0] is some audit data about the default packages in a foresight install.
You will be able to see the total number of packages, their total size, and the percentage of each package in the total size. For example on the x86_64 system, glibc accounts for 12% of the whole system. And from big to small, mono>faenza-icon-theme>sun-jdk>kernel. And there are some hidden businesses as well, e.g. inkscape brings in gcc-fortran and lapack, each of which are among the bigger packages. And the qt related packages. We have several high leave qt app that drags in the huge qt stack. See [1] for this. See it for yourself. On the second sheet, the size of :locale troves are shown. We can't go on a purge atm, but there might be some simple fixes that will show a big effect. How I generated the report is documented here [2] jesse [0] https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AiWAG9bu20H3dHlnRlBwcDJ5clhWQjJOdVBmOVF3N3c&hl=en#gid=0 [1] http://issues.foresightlinux.org/jira/browse/FL-2586 [2] http://wiki.foresightlinux.org/wiki/display/~jesse/audit+the+size+of+foresight _______________________________________________ Foresight-devel mailing list Foresight-devel@lists.rpath.org http://lists.rpath.org/mailman/listinfo/foresight-devel
