Hi,

I'm very interested in the idea of generating Java EE applications with
Eclipse RCP front-end and would like to know what is the current state of
this (hopefully) ongoing work.

My current task is to develop a prototype application with RCP technology
and Java EE back-end. I've already tried some MDSD tools and found Sculptor
very interesting, not at last due to the good Eclipse IDE integration.

The back-end part works pretty well with most tools. Same goes for the
front-end as long as you are happy with a web app... But if you want to
generate RCP applications (especially the redundant CRUD parts of it) you're
currently on your own. I think the most "painful" thing about manually
developing an RCP application for a generated backend built with Maven is
the dependency management. Fortunately, there is an article about
http://www.eclipse.org/articles/article.php?file=Article-Eclipse-and-Maven2/index.html
Building Eclipse Plugins with Maven 2 .

While I'm rather new at doing MDSD, I have several years of experience with
Eclipse and might be able to participate here some way. I'd already find it
really great if there were at least something similiar to the basic web CRUD
for Eclipse RCP.
