La pregunta era mas bien si ocurría al revés, si mientras leía el cursor,
desde otro programa se modificaban los datos, esto ultimo se reflejaba en
los datos que obtenía en la lectura.
Ejemplo, si desde otro programa borran todos los registros de la selección
que yo estaba leyendo, ¿sigo leyendo los registros previamente
seleccionados, o me da fin de datos?

Los cursores de datos son tablas temporales mediante las cuales puedes
manipular los datos que están en éstas, para hacer diferentes tareas, ya
que existen 2 tipos de cursores, los seriales y los de tipo "Scrollable",
dependiendo de cual utilices.
Tu fichero físico no sufre ningún cambio a menos que se lo indiques en el
programa, pudiendo utilizar las filas de datos que tengas en el cursor,
pero en sí el cursor no te modifica ningún dato.

Cuando se ejecuta una select en un rpg, y luego se leen los registros
resultantes, ¿que se esta leyendo realmente, un archivo temporal, o un
índice temporal con selección?
Mi pregunta va encaminada a saber si se "actualiza" la select, si existen
modificaciones en el fichero físico o no mientras se lee el cursor.
