Dokladnie cale wspomniane zdanie, po angielsku, jest przytoczone w protescie. Jezeli dodamy do tego fakt, ze w artykule wystepuja dodatkowo "Nazisci", a z reszty zrobiono kogiel mogiel, uwazalem, zeby na wszelki wypadek nie byc posadzonym kolejny raz o Oswiecim, nalezy walnac z gory, co zreszta zrobilem, podpierajac sie 45 podpisami. Concentration Camp Auschwitz or Death Camp Auschwitz,was established by the Hitler's Germany in 1940,in the suburbs of the city of Oswiecim which,like other parts of Poland, was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War. The name of the city of Oswiecim was changed to Auschwitz, which became the name of the camp as well. It has become a symbol of terror, genocide, and the Holocaust. At first, Poles were imprisoned and died in the camp. Afterwards, Soviet prisoners of war, Gypsies, and prisoners of other nationalities were also incarcerated there. Beginning in 1942, the camp became the site of the mass murder in the history of humanity, which was committed against the European Jews as part of Hitler's plan for the destruction of that people. This, or similar information can be found almost everywhere, yet your article has failed to acknowledge it. Obviously,the NSDAP, was the name of ruling party in Hitler's Germany, and her members-Nazis, were responsible for the atrocities against prisoners, as well as SS troops. But without stressing those roots of Nazis in Hitler's Germany, an article itself, is suggesting a different story. So,an average reader, unaware of those very important nuances, may get a false impression, that Nazis and people of Oswiecim are those responsible for the Auschwitz in the past. Let me quote from the article: "... Today's residents complain that they had nothing to do with the horror brought forth upon the world by their predecessors". Nothing can be further from truth. While the problem with disco-club in Auschwitz/Oswiecim is the leading topic of your article, and as such, should be solved either way by both parties, we think that the background of the story can't be matter of manipulations and innuendoes. We think, that it is unacceptable to suggest or to malign the character of a people-even by smallest margin for events over which they had no control. We must call things by their proper names. This is a matter of the truth, this is a matter of the principle. We do hope, that editorial staff at Contra Costa Times, will take all possible steps, in order to avoid in the future similar situation.
