Happy New Year!

I don't want to get into the almost inevitable year-end mood, commenting on all the things that happened in 2002. Just one thing, I would really like to see M$ ship a recent version of the Java JRE with all Windows installations in 2003 ;-)

Anyway, the conversion of the user group from Yahoo-Groups to the CarlsbadCubes.com Website has been completed. As far as I can tell all but one account have been transferred an the number of subscribers currently totals 334.

Theodore:
Theodore "Release Candidate 1" is available through JavaWebstart here:
http://www.carlsbadcubes.com/theodore/
Theodore 1.0 final release should become available in the first or second week of January and the work on a subsequent version, which will add new features, will start immediately thereafter.

XML2Swing/Swinglet:
In the meanwhile, the work on XML2Swing/Swinglet progressed well. An Editor (code-named Franklin), in its functionality comparable to Theodore is in the making. Just like the Theodore class extended Thinlet, Franklin extends Swinglet and therefore, Franklin serves as the first real test case for Swinglet, I already discovered (and fixed) some short comings. I'm planning on making a Franklin pre-view release available in the second week of January. At the same time, Swinglet should go opensource on SourceForge.

What's in a name.
Unfortunately, the terms "Swinglet" and "XML2Swing" are already used elsewhere. If you think you have a cool name for how to label the core library/technology, which converts XML into a javax.swing object tree, please let me know.

Have a great year 2003.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way.....
