SWIX is a great acronym/name! :-)

Unfortunately swix.com/net/org are all taken. :-(
Howabout SWIXML?

"Simple Windowing Interfaces in XML"
swixml.org/net/com are all available... I'd be happy to register one if
folks like it and point it to the sourceforge site.

And I really like the change in the XMl to calling the window frame a...
well, a frame (instead of a thinlet or a swinglet).

I like the idea of keeping the UI xml simple. KISS

I also believe the project could gain a lot of ground if the xml was kept
language neutral. I don't know if that's possible or not, and still keep it
simple, but I think it's worthy at least of consideration.

XUL tries...but it isn't simple. I'd love to be able to keep the same UI
descriptor and use a SWIXML.DLL from C#. I know that's heresy in this
community...but I like to hedge my bets...and C# will produce runnable
exe/cutables that can run on a _lot_ of desktops.

Ok - I'm interested, but I'm going to post this in the forum just to
publicly show support. :-)

I've been working with Java for almost 3 years, but mostly server-side so
I'm a newbie for Swing.

I have a project that will be a rich client based on Swing and using web
services to 'talk' to the backend. For this, I would prefer to use SWIXML
assuming it can reach a stable 1.0 milestone within 4 months. (prefer stable
over feature rich).

I may potentially be working 20-30 hours a week professionally on a Swing UI
based project. That should afford some time (plus afterhours coding) to
spend on the SWIX project... but since I'm a swing newbie - I may be more
useful for QA/bug reporting than raw coding.

> How would you prefer to share code, have you worked with SmartCVS etc.?
Sourceforge's CVS would be fine. The chap who wrote SmartCVS is quite
amiable and responsive - the product is certainly worth using. (albiet, I'm
still more accustomed to the free WinCVS.org)

I hope to be able to help. :-)

Fantastic!
