Maxtor To Buy Quantum's HD Division

Today it was announced that Maxtor will be taking control of Quantum's
hard drive division in a deal valued at over $2 billion.
The deal, treated as a merger, would see Maxtor become the largest hard
drive manufacturer in the world.
The combined entity will retain the Maxtor name, and the President and
CEO of Maxtor, Mike Cannon, will retain his position.
Quantum, happy to be out of the hard drive business, will continue with
its other storage products.
