Not sure whether this is a bug report or a mere misunderstanding on my part.
Sorry in that case ...

I tried to use the "command line" button as a kind of external application
launcher. Since I wanted to start a GUI application from there (metapad), I did
not check the "Run under MS-Dos command interpreter" checkbox. But when I hit
"OK", nothing happened at all. When I checked the box, everything worked as I
expected.

Additionally, when I tried "C:ProgrammeInternet Exploreriexplore.exe" as a
command, with checkbox ON it launched the so-called Internet Explorer (as
expected), with checkbox OFF it launched a "My Computer" window (German:
Arbeitsplatz) in Explorer.

Is this supposed to be normal behavior, after all? But why is the checkbox
there, if it doesn't do anything? Backward compatibility with "stone age"
windows versions, maybe?

In any event, this is certainly not important, because hiding the cmd prompt in
most cases achieves the same result I originally intended, i.e. not cluttering
my task bar more than necessary. But it *is* a little confusing, to say the
least.
