I couldn't edit my previous post. I changed the system language to Japanese and now I can display Shift_Jis files correctly, that is the most common encoding of Japanese web pages, and it's enough for now. Note: I changed the language in Regional Options, and now many programs are in Japanese... Notepad instead isn't affected at all by that setting: to display Japanese (and probably any other language) ANSI files in noteped you to have to set "Regional and Language Options" -> "Advanced" -> "Language for non-Unicode programs" I hope that this info will be useful for somebody :-) Anyway it would be nice to have an option in PSPad to set the default ANSI encoding indipendently from the OS settings.
