Ad 1.: Try: Program settings :: Direct edit:: OldSpecialChars=1 Ad 2.: It should be possible to edit the appropriate ini file in ...PSPad/Syntax/ (C#???.ini) (Maybe you could backup the changed file, in order not to overwrite it with the update)
