hello you seem to have some misunderstanding there...
"tab width" refer at how many spaces will have the indentation or the tab character when drawing it, that means, if you set a value of 8 in tab width, you will get: 1.- if real tabs is off, 8 spaces maximum when you press tab 2.- if real tabs on, a tab char that will have 8 spaces width maximum when you press tab note i say maximum, cause the document will be "divided" into columns where the tab will stops, of course, using it as indentation (firsts columns only) it will have always the maximum width secondly, the dots are space characters, not tabs, they appear cause you have set off the real tabs, if you want to insert 2 tab characters you must turn on real tabs and press tab key twice hth -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?4,34764,34938> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
