I haven't got much experience with standard behavior of double-click on tabs. The only thing I know is that there is some Firefox extension that adds close-on-double-click functionality to Firefox. Personally, I am not very comfortable with this. Sometimes I accidentally double-click when I want to single-click a tab. And much like Zhong Qiyao, I find it somewhat unintuitive that double-click means "close".
