But why should the program still be running in the directory of a closed file?
EditPad/Textplorer doesn't have this problem, so it could be fixed.

I like PSPad, but it's a shame that this annoying problem still isn't fixed. I

Any program has some working directory when you start it.
If you close or open another file, this directory stay as is. 
I can change working directory of the PSPad if you close all files...
