Well. I think i was misunderstood.
In the example, the "*" could have ben a "$" of a "7" or "wathever". 

But im not trying to find any backspaces... but to 'input' them. So i can
replace the test i want after i've input a 'backspace'.

Anyway, with no luck tried as you recommended \\b, \\, etc.

BackSpace isn't a "char" in the text file.
* means any count of previous expression
. means any char

Press F1 in the search dialog and read the help. There is chapter about regular
expression with examples.
