I'm sure many people find the templates list useful but I must confess I do not. In fact, despite using PSPad (and overall being very impressed with it) for only a day so far, this one part of it has driven me to swearing several times already.
When press CTRL-N I'd simply like a blank file to be instantly shown in a new tab with no default file extension. I sometimes have to create text files with extensions that are not in the template list, often with no extension at all. At the moment, if I create a new text file and save it as myfile.xyz, PSPad saves it as myfile.xyz.txt. I have created a template for a file with no extension but now it's an annoyance to create a new file as I have to press CTRL-N then select the Use Template tab then expand the empty folder at the top of the list then finally click the DEFAULT template file. Is it possible to have an option in the preferences to ignore the templates dialog altogether and just instantly create a new blank file that I can name however I wish? -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,39583,39583> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
