If you open any file in PSpad, PSPad loads file from disk to memory. It doesn't write anything to disk during file load. Load whole file into memory means that your OS need to free some memory and swap memory content to disk into yor swap file.
I can guess only. You have some problems with your HDD and if OS increase swap file size, th swap file became corrupt. In my opinion swap file delete from recovery console should help you. -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?6,39838,39937> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
