Personally, I think the filter system is fine as it is. I doubt I'd notice if
the filters were saved accross sessions or not, since I'm usually just picking
out file types (so I type them in). I think the current system is fine.

Getting the RO state from the file attributes is exactly what I'd like.

The only other UI thing I've felt was missing is having a tool-tip when the
mouse rests over a file that's too long to fit in the list showing the full file
name.

If you were going down the columns route you could create 4 columns
(customisable order & visibility) for name, path, type & modified date (from
file modified property). Sometimes I do work on several similar files and I can
see a situation where knowing which of those files I last edited would be
handy.

In summary though, this is a really handy tool. I feel that it's really missing
a "file name" column and this is something I think most people would need.
Personally I'd get a lot of use from a Read Only & Missing File colour scheme
option. Again, personally, I think the filter system has it pretty much nailed
down. Finally, showing modified dates could end up being quite handy.

Everything else (icons, file types) is just icing.

As I said this is really a really handy tool. I think everyone would fine it
useful, if they would only download and install it! ;-)
