Hi Jan, For intel Hex files, I think that 6 will be sufficient.
But some position must be "from begining" and others "from end". In hex files, _last_ 2 characters are a checksum and can be displayed differently than other characters. :1005EB00000000227400F58690FDA57C05A3E58232 : *start* .10 *size (hex)* ...05EB *address* .......00 *data type* .........000000227400F58690FDA57C05A3E582 *data* .........................................32 *checksum* I think that implementing a syntax control (check data size, and checksum) can be difficult in pspad. But with some colors it can helps to deal with this kind of files. Best regards pierre -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,41070,41189> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
