Is it currently possible, or would it be possible in the future to define a background image for the editing window of each highlighter?
If the image is coordinated with the font-size, then it would be possible to have the image show faint vertical lines and/or differences in background colors for the tab/indentation stops. Then this would help someone to see the vertical alignment, or mis-alignment as the case may be.
