After a lot of playing, I seem to have a basic hilighter file and context file
for Wikipedia files. That is, PSPad recognises the extensions as Wikipedia
documents, and CTRL+SPACE brings up the content menu (though I have nothing
actually defined other than a test clip).
I still have to figure out how to make the colour definitions work. Part of the
problem here might be the terseness of the English help files. The 'Definition
file structure description' doesn't actually show how to set up which characters
to use for quotes or comments, and neither does working with colour.
The Wikipedia for example uses the form [[PAGE_NAME DESCRIPTION]] for an
internal link, and [URL DESCRIPTION] for external links. It's possible to use a
subset of HTML and XHTML to style text, like <em>emphasized</em>, and other
forms include things like other formatting such as #REDIRECT (at the start of a
line for redirects, ''italic'', '''bold''' and ''''italic/bold'''',
{{VARIABLES}}, ==HEADINGS==, and I think (( )) is also used. I was going to
simply add these as different forms of either quotes or comments, but can't find
where that is determined.
Coming back to Context files, what's missing in the help is a note to say that
you need to _initially_ create the DEF file via the "Edit Clip Definition
File" menu item _after_ having first created the hilighter definition. I
realise now that what I'd done was create *wiki.INI* and _wiki.DEF_ by
copying other files in the relevant directories. However, the DEF file expected
by PSPad for Wikipedia files wasn't wiki.DEF, but _Wikipedia.DEF_, because
in wiki.INI I'd made *Name=Wikipedia*! I kept editing wiki.DEF and of
course, nothing was happening. :-O
I'd like to suggest then, that the User highlighters help page also include a
section about Context files pointing that out. It was save some guess work. :-P
