You have mixed up something.

%word%.html is of course no valid file name.

Go to "Settings > Highlighter Settings..."

Choose left HTML
and right "Specification"
and put there by HELP FILE the path to your help.CHM file in.

Now, if you press ALT+F1 in an HTML document
your HTML-Help.chm will open.
If you stand on an word in your document then this
word is searched and shown in the help.

Right now i don't remember if other types then CHM are supported , just try it.

you could also use the ToolPanel on the left side of PSPad.
There you can add to the favorites an Tool.
Put there e.g. the path to your HTML-Help.chm in
and THERE you can use this %word% placeholder.
