Hi, Using version PSPad 4.5.3 on Microsoft Vista, I experience an issue that I could consider as a PSPad bug.
_Scenario_: - Edit any file in a system protected area (e.g. in C:\Program files\... Make some changes to it and save. PSPad will just save without complaining. - Open the file again. It will have the correct modified contents. - Look with Windows Explorer to the file. It will still have the old timestamp and size. - Open the file with another application (e.g. notepad) and you will see the old version. The new modifications are not there. _Problem info_: This is due to the 'feature' in Windows Vista, called file virtualization. Take a look at point 5 in http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5538 for a short description. I would consider the current behaviour of PSPad as faulty, since it makes the user believe the modification was ok. _Proposed solution:_ Make PSPad 'fail' when trying to save a protected file. This complies with what other 'Vista compatible' applications are doing. Best regards, Johan -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?4,46504,46504> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
