Hi, I also experienced some a bit surprising behaviour with tabs (mixing with spaces sometimes), but since I'm indenting with spaces in python (with comletely disabled real tabs), there doesn't seem to be a problem with that. I am not quite sure, if I underestand the feature request - now you can either split the view at each single text (context menu on filetab :: split vert./ split hor.) or you can individually arrange the text windows after maximising (maximise button in the menubar).
