I just wanted to say how awesome PSPad is... I have actually been using for a couple years as just my plain old text editor, and it seemed to do SO MUCH that I was a little overwhelmed at all the options, so I never really looked into them.
Well I finally took a deeper look, and realized what I have been missing out on... I just realized you can change the colors in the highlighter on a per language basis, so I have setup HTML, CSS, PHP and JAVASCRIPT with some really nice colors that make it a LOT easier to read my code now! And this is my favorite... I am running Win XP Pro, and discovered that there is command line version of PHP. In the highlighter settings I discovered the 'compiler' tab, so I setup php.exe as the compiler, and now I can just hit CTRL+F9 and it will check show me any parse errors I have (my most common mistake is to forget the ; at the end of line). These were the steps involved BEFORE I set this to find out if there is a parse error or not... #1-Save File #2-Open FileZilla and upload the file to server #3-Open Firefox and use address bar to access file on server #4-Find out there is a parse error, edit the file, resave it, re-upload it and try it again to see if it's fixed. Now with PSPad, I just hit CTRL+F9, find and fix my parse errors before uploading... this will save me a ton of time. I have tried using other editors (like Dreamweaver) for editing HTML, CSS, PHP and JAVASCRIPT, but always end up using them in text editor mode anyway. PSPad is far superior (as a text editor) to even Dreamweaver!! I also added a couple of extensions (any-tag-create.js and close-tag.js) which now allow me to quickly and easily create or close an HTML tag! Wow... i was missing so much before... these simple things will save me so much time! I am now excited to dive under the hood and see what else PSPad can help me do!!! Keep up the excellent work!!!:):):) -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,50762,50762> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
