Hello :-)
I'm a new user to PSPad since I was looking for a good
HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, MySQL editor.
I'd like to share my first experience switching from
Homesite 3.0 before I forget it.
First of all though I'd like to thank you for such a
great piece of software!
I downloaded Version 4.5.4 (2356). If I would start with
the things I really like about PSPad this post would take
hours to write! So I'll write about the things that would
make it even better from my point of view.
1. Usage and Philosophy of Clips need better
documentation. I finally got it...
2. Highlighter and User Highlighter need better
documentation. It also took me a lot of time to find
out one would need full access to code explorer files
to fully customize the behaviour.
3. Please make an API for individual code explorer
files.
4. Clip insert indent error
When I insert a clip at an indented position not all
lines of the clip are indented correctly. (I think there
was already a forum post about it.)
5. Change in behaviour of Image drag&drop
5.1. Settings radio button for
a: standard behaviour
b: always paste relative path (which I'd like)
5.2. Change the order of width and height attribute
I'm very much used to that the width attribute comes
before the height attribute in an image tag. So when
I work on existing html files this makes my code untidy
and somehow confusing.
6. "Remembering" the last position of toolbar elements:
When I move the elements around, they are in standard
position next time I start PSPad...
7. "Remembering" the last active tab of the tools panel
I mostly use the file explorer tab so it's annoying
always having to click on it each start. (The tabs also
don't have an "alt" attribute.)
8. Ability to change the order of the column fields in
the folder view of File Explorer.
"Size" is not the second most important information
for a programmer I think. I don't know is this can be
changed anyway.
9. Switching the tools panel position to the right hand
side.
This is one of the features that made me stick with
Homesite for such a long time. This is very important
for me from an ergonimic point of view. Not just because
the contents of the tools panel windows is all left
aligned but I use a two monitor setup and my second
monitor is on the left to my primary screen.
That's it so far. I'm curious about comments.
Thank you again.
John
