I wonder why the highlighting method used for matching tags couldn't be extended
to highlight every occurrence of a text selection as discussed in this thread:

I understand the processor load concerns, but I still would like to know how it
performs on a modern processor -- I'm not convinced it is too heavy a process
for an Intel Core i5/i7.  And in any case, whatever the processor impact it may
still be acceptable on newer machines.  It could be optional, even hidden away
in the Direct Edit Settings for testing -- "too heavy on the processor" is
subjective and we should test different processors.

Jan, is there any reason why this couldn't be tested?
