Windows XP Home edition SP3 PSPAD v4.5.4 (2356) I used PSPAD about 6 times editing an XHTML file with Chinese characters in it. But today I made some changes to my file and wierd things are now happening.
My
,
, etc. tags are not recognized, in that when I try to match them with their end tags, there is not a match and the background of the tag turns grey instead of shocking cyan. The browser sees them fine. I have a terrible time trying to type in tags. But the problems I have are difficult to describe as they are all over the place. Some things that happen are: - typing a character puts it one char off. - some chars won't delete; the neighboring char is deleted instead. - when I try to delete extra chars which appear in my tags (e.g. the final 'd' in <tdd> the 'td' part turns red. ANther example is if I have "<t>Friday" and I try to insert 'd' after the 't', it is put after the '>', and if I put the cursor to the left of the 'd' and try to delete it, the 'F' is deleted. Also, sometimes the cursor sits about half-way into a char, instead of between chars. These problems only seem to happen with tags and their neighboring chars. My
,
etc. tags work just fine. I've checked for typing errors and found and corrected a couple, but I don't think that that is the problem. For example, even in
hello
the
tag isn't matched. I turned off what seems to be the word-wrap option, but it makes no difference. I read the FAQ post from manfred62 about setting multihilighting to XHTML, but can't find anything about that in the settings menu or anywhere else. And when I try to set XHTML in the highter-settings menu, it always reverts back to HTML when I look at the settings again, even after un-checking HTML. I see nothing about multihighter-base, only 'HTML multihilighter' and that's greyed out, altho checked. When I un-check it, it disappears, and re-checking it doesn't get it back. Do I have to un-check everything except XHTML? That post is interesting, because it is only today that I started inserting '
' into my file. Does anyone have any ideas? -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,54527,54527> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
