If you select 'Vectical Split' in Window menu, the editor's main window is split into 2. If you select it again the window unsplits. How about when you select it again it splits one more. This can be used if you want to view three or more parts of the same file without scrolling back and forth. To unsplit, an 'Unsplit' menu item/command which undoes the most recent split can be provided.
