Hello Jan, just give a file the readonly attribute. Then open this file in PSPad. For comparison open an additional file that is not readonly.
If "Settings|Program Settings|Tools|File locking" is set to "Lock file with R/O attribute" then PSPad shows a Message, that the file is readonly. After you have closed this message you will not notice any differences in the editor window between the readonly and the not-readonly file unless you try to save them. Now repeat the same procedure with PSPad "Settings|Program Settings|Tools|File locking" is set to "Don't lock file when open". You will have the filename of the readonly file marked with a square on the tab and you will not be able to make any changes in the editor! Additionally to a message this second beheaviour would be the right one in our opinion for every chosen method also including "Smart file locking with LCK file". Greetings and many thanks for your patience Dirk -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,46275,65310> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
