Using PSPad 32-bit version 5.0.1 (312) on Windows 10 Professional x64, I can reliably crash the application by opening a file in hex editor mode and then just keeping a key pressed to overwrite a sequence of bytes. After a while, I either get an access violation message box or the application just shuts down without any notice. The amount of bytes after which this occurs differed on two machines I tested this on, sometimes it was after less than 64 bytes, in other cases it took up to overwritten 256 bytes until the application would crash.
