Having the toggle box to easily jump between the built-in text diff tool and an
external application (like Meld or DiffMerge) makes a huge difference depending
on how complex the code conflict is. For a quick internal check, the native
PSPad diff keeps you focused in the editor workspace, but for complex,
line-by-line file merges, hooking a robust external utility into the settings is
definitely the way to go.
As a side note, if you ever just want to run an immediate, ad-hoc comparison on
two quick snippets of code or text files without changing your native editor
path configurations or dealing with external VBScripts, throwing the text
side-by-side into https://comparetext.app/ works great as a temporary
web sandbox. It’s a handy alternative when you just need a fast visual
breakdown on the fly.
