A CF device has that special CFA value in ID word 0 (848AH). What more do you need to identify a CF device? Are you talking to real CF devices -OR- to one of those SmartMedia (or other such device) to CF adapter things (those things that T13 added new command for a few months ago?). These SM-to-ATA adapter things are probably making up the ID data on the fly so you knows what they report. If someone does know they probably can't talk about it because it is all "secret". *** Hale Landis *** www.ata-atapi.com *** Subscribe/Unsubscribe instructions can be found at www.t13.org.
