Pat and other interested folks: Lets take this ATAPI PIO and DMA discussion offline. I don't see any point in flooding T13 with this discussion that really isn't getting much of anywhere fast. Several of us have been trying to explain to Pat that he misunderstands how ATA/ATAPI data transfer commands operate. I can't seem to get Pat to respond to my questions asking if he agress/understands a few very basic points about how ATA/ATAPI operate. I can only assume he would respond negatively to those questions so that is why he doesn't respond. I have not seen any email indicating that Jim McGrath or anyone else, include me, are saying things that are not true. This alone should tell Pat there is something wrong with his understanding of these issues. By now I think we have written the same explaination over and over at least 10 times.
