1) Me, I use the standard option of Ata ops x23/33 Read/WriteLong, except the
committees have chosen to not define these ops past the capacity barrier of 128GiB @
0.5KiB/block. In Scsi, the opcodes are are x3E/3F, except the committees have chosen
to not define these ops past the capacity barrier of 2TiB @ 0.5KiB/block. Scsi ops
xBE/BF are rumoured to work in some places.

2)
http://members.aol.com/plscsi/index.html#whatever
points us to the (megabyte) documents that discuss these ops e.g.
http://www.t13.org/docs2002/d1410r3b.pdf (Ata/pi 6 Feb 2002) (1,767,405 bytes)

3) About Spinrite I know nothing, but thanks for the link.

        Hi,

Any idea what ATA command a utility like Spinrite (see http://grc.com)
uses to look at bad sectors (sectors
that fail with an error when read normally)?

        Thanks,
        -Costa
