Dan; I briefly reviewed your proposal and I am not sure that the proposal would cover both the single drive situation and a drive as part of a RAID implementation. The sister document to the ISO-7779 is the ECMA 74 document located at the www.ecma.ch. Appendix C describes the testing and the formula for HDDs. At the bottom of the section on HDDs, the last sentence describe what amounts to 100% Seek rate for RAID implementations. How do we cover this also in the ID data. We also have Optical devices. The Identify data for optical devices should reflect the similar information and the imbalance Disk in gm-mm.
