So you would like ATA/ATAPI to fully specify the format of the
firmware data file, fully specify all the DOWNLOAD MICROCODE command
parameters and all the commands that may be required to enable
DOWNLOAD MICROCODE and all the commands/resets that may be necessary
after the DOWNLOAD MICROCODE command, fully specify all the
encryption algorithms that may be used in the firmware data, fully
specify how checksums and CRCs are computed in the firmware data,
etc?

You do realize that the virus designers of the world do know how to
find the ATA/ATAPI standards and they do know how to read them and
they are just waiting for T13 (or some disk manufacturer) to provide
this information?
