Brian, did you ever get an answer to your connector question? I did find a document on a Toshiba web site that shows the pin-out of a 50-conductor cable that looks a lot like the one in the URL you provided. Go to http://sdd.toshiba.com/cda/main.aspx?Path=/818200000464000000010000659c00000c31 and you can see the pin definition. This connector is used on several Toshiba ATAPI drives. Good luck, MKE. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Brian A. Hi, Does anyone know the pin assignments for the slim-style 50-conductor connectors used on ATAPI CD and DVD drives in current model laptop computers? It appears to be an SCA-style connector, a different variant of which is used for hot-swappable SCSI (80 conductor) and Fibre Channel (40 conductor) drives. The connector itself is pictured at <http://www.baber.com/baber/products/slimline_cd_adapter.htm> and its use is noted at <http://support.ap.dell.com/docs/storage/3j928/en/spec.htm> although this Dell page says "50 Pin ATAPI Standard" at the bottom. Volume 2 of the ATA/ATAPI-7 spec defines the 50-pin 2.5" form factor style connector, but not this slim one. Thanks for your help. ___________________________________________________________________ Brian A. Berg [EMAIL PROTECTED] Voice: 408.741.5010 Berg Software Design FAX: 408.741.5234 P.O.
