Resend: the first and second attempts to post to [EMAIL PROTECTED] bounced. -- John Jim, I should have cross-posted to the T13 reflector. Thanks for sharing my message. This study group is looking at whether or not it makes sense to develop a standard, technical report, white paper, or ??? on how to map an otherwise SCSI protocol stack so that commands from layers above can be translated into their ATA/SATA equivalents. This would allow one protocol stack to work with either SCSI physical devices or ATA physical devices. Since the people promoting this project want to work with existing ATA/SATA disk drives, there will be no attempt to change anything in ATA/ATAPI. I think people with a strong ATA/ATAPI background would be especially welcome and would be vital to a successful project.
