Refer to Section 4.9 "Host protected area feature set" of the ATA specification. The password persists after a hardware or soft reset. Unlocking the drive requires a power cycle or a successful completion of a set max unlock command. -Vish Maxtor Corporation Digital Entertainment Group Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: Rickey, Al [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, May 11, 2004 1:53 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [t13] Proper functioning of security command set on PATA to SATA bridge s This message is from the T13 list server. Had someone ask me the other day whether or not a parallel ATA to SATA bridge device was behaving according to spec. Not being familiar with these devices, I thought I'd throw it you guys for comment. What he's seeing is that the password protected drive is requiring a password download after an SRESET is sent to the bridge device. This sounds like a bug in the bridge to me, but would like some comment from those who are more familiar with them. Thanks, ===================== Al Rickey Emulex Corp. 1921 Corporate Center Circle, Ste. 3B Longmont, CO 80501 720-652-6385 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
