Thoughts ...

1) A con is the debate over how dangerous and how in violation of past
specs is the idea of issuing reserved/ obsolete/ vendor-specific/ etc.
ops, now unresolved in "Re: [t13] Feature Negotiation policy question".

2) A con is that practically speaking we cannot dream up some new
positive PIO-free way of saying that op is supported, such as changing
the reset signature.

3) A con is to ask what's keeping you now from trying that op, using it
if it works, and then resorting to xEC/A1 IDENTIFY only if it doesn't
work?  Why will those reasons not apply if a .pdf appears at t13.org
saying you may try that op?  Or if you are trying that op, what will a
new .pdf at t13.org buy you?
