I have found a conflict in the ATA-7 specification:
In the Identify Packet Device, its lists Word 83, bit 0 as indicating Download Microcode command support
However:
Under the Download Microcode command (Sec 6.11) it says the use is "Prohibited" for packet command devices.
So if it is prohibited then an ATAPI device is required to clear Word 83 (and Word 86) bit 0 to 0, and the Identify Packet Device should indicate such.
QUESTION: Why is the download microcode command prohibited for ATAPI devices ?
Why don't we want them to use the same OP code ?
