AHCI does not support NCQ on ATAPI devices. It doesn't because that
feature isn't defined in the SATA specifications. AHCI specification is
publicly available from
http://www.intel.com/technology/serialata/ahci.htm

Subject: [t13] SATA AHCI ATAPI TCQ (NCQ?)

This message is from the T13 list server.

Does AHCI support new style TCQ (NCQ?) for ATAPI devices? If not, why
not?

Are there any other reasons why new style TCQ (NCQ?) can not be
supported for ATAPI devices (other than there needs to be a new
variation of the PACKET command, probably just another bit in the PACKET

Features register) to say use new style TCQ (NCQ?)?

Does this first require action/approval of the SATA "secret society"
before T13 can discuss it?
