I'm looking at the ATA/ATAPI-7 vol 2 (rev 2) device side SRST state
diagram and text and I don't see anything that is different from
ATA/ATAPI-6. Of course I'm not looking at the current/last draft of
ATA/ATAPI-7 and I'm only looking at the state diagram part of the
document... I don't know what may have been changed in later drafts.

Of course for PATA an ATAPI device must perform the SRST protocol -
just think of the mess that would happen if the other device on the
PATA interface was an ATA device that did the SRST while the ATAPI
device did not do the SRST.
