Let me quote from http://www.heise.de/ct/english/05/08/172/

"In the case of two thirds of all the PCs inspected the security functions
were not frozen; and this group included not only devices cobbled together
but also current branded PCs by Dell, HP and Apple. Of all BIOSs, the most
popular one, Award BIOS, was unaware of ATA Security."

If you think that Award does handle things correctly, then maybe we must
get down to BIOS versions.
