READ and WRITE LOG DMA EXT has been incorporated into ATA8-ACSr2.  The following resources have been assigned

  1. READ LOG DMA EXT opcode 47h
  2. WRITE LOG DMA EXT opcode 57h
  3. IDENTIFY DEVICE data words 119 and 120 bit 3

This is documented as an optional part of the GPL feature set.  As such, these commands will be disabled by DCO when GPL is disabled.  This was my intention, but we have not really discussed how this should be documented.

I documented this as optional for ATAPI, but IDENTIFY PACKET DEVICE has not been updated to reflect the feature bits.  I think that we will need to review IDENTIFY PACKET DEVICE at the next meeting and determine if the differences between ATA devices and ATAPI devices are intentional.  I would like to make this a point during the document review in October.
