I just found an interesting item while editing ATA8-APT. In
the table describing the driver types for each line, the DD lines are TS with a
10K pull-down at the host on DD7. However, in table 4 (in ATA-7) it
describes the maximum current sink for when released.
While these two terms aren't specifically in
conflict with each other it's a little confusing. I don't see any text requiring
the pull-ups except for this section (or others). I see requirements for series
termination for UDMA, but that's matching impedance termination.
Is it late at night or am I missing some
requirement.

way)
